a^2+^2=c^2 This is the formula for finding the Pythagorean Theorem. a^2 and b^2 variables do not matter, but c^2 HAS to be the longest side, thus x.
5^2+7^2=x^2
25+49= 74
Square root of 74 is around 8.6. This is your answer
