How did your phase contrast image of bacteria compare to your observations of the bacteria in the bright field mode?

The phase contrast image lets us see the bacteria in a clearer form with defined shades of cell organelles with the difference in the brightness. Here the image is clearly visible even without staining.

Where as without staining, the appearance of bacteria in the bright field mode only shows bright structure and not the color contrasts.
