las Vegas is a dessert and receives very little amount of rain so it receives its water from other places such as the Colorado river through pipes. but it doesn't just receive its water from the Colorado river, there are other rivers it revieves it's water from and all these rivers all transfer some water to Las Vegas.
so basically Las Vegas receives water from the Colorado by transporting the water to Las Vegas via pipes.
