Why was new england ideal for the development of factories

because with their land type, it was hard for the to farm basically anything. They decided it would be easier if they manufactured all the raw materials the middle and south colonies would farm and then redistribute those back to everyone. So for example cotton, the South would have given them the raw cotton and then the factories in New England would create textiles out of them.
