First we have to rearrange the equation.

3x + 4y = 12
4y = -3x + 12

(4y)/(4) =
(-3x)/(4) +
(12)/(4)
y =
(-3)/(4)x + 3

y = mx + b the "m" is the slope

m =
(-3)/(4)
