Life on earth is protected by the ozone layer by absorbing many harmful ultraviolet rays that come from the sun.

If we did not have this protective layer, the ultraviolet radiation could cause sunburn, skin cancer, and damaged eye sight.

This harmful radiation also harms crops and materials such as plastic or paint.

The ozone layer lets non-harmful typed of radiation such as visible light that passes through.
