Passover or Pesach is an important, biblically derived Jewish holiday. Jews celebrate Passover as a commemoration of their liberation by God from slavery in ancient Egypt and their freedom as a nation under the leadership of Moses.

The biblical origin of the Passover is when:

The Israelites ate the 'Passover' inside their houses, with their door posts painted with the blood of the animal they killed. During the night, when the 'Angel of death' saw the blood on the door posts, he 'passed over', and did not kill the babies inside the house
