In a forest habitat, how are the populations of rabbits and foxes dependent upon each other?

The foxes are dependent on the rabbits, because the foxes eat the rabbits. The rabbits are dependent on the foxes because without the foxes, the rabbits would over-populate. There wouldn’t be enough food for all of them, and all the rabbits would die.
