Gender refers to the social and psychological characteristics associated with being female or male. Norms, roles and relationships of and between groups of women and men are socially constructed characteristics of women and men.
The process of conveying what is considered appropriate behavior and perspectives for males and females in a particular culture is called gender-role socialization.
