Mussolini brought in new laws under his Fascist rule. He had to right to stop any publication that criticized the catholic church, state, or monarchy. The prime minister was given the right to make laws simply by decree. Police had unrestricted authority over to the people so they could arrest and jail anyone for either political or non political crimes. He also outlawed all other political parties and created a secret police called OVRA.
