In Uzbek culture, the most significant rite of passage is that of getting married. Traditionally, Uzbeks practiced arranged marriages, where once a boy was of age his family would begin searching for a bride for him. Today, things have largely changed in that regard, but Uzbek weddings are still large, ornate, and extravagant celebrations.
