Catching yourself in the process of self-serving bias is most likely the result of monitoring. Monitoring means that you are watching yourself for certain behaviors or cues which allows you to discover when and why you do certain things in order to gain better control over your behavior.

The answer is monitoring
monitoring refers to the self-evaluation on our presentation of behavior.
If we do ot control this process, we will always behave or act in response to things that we believe would benefit us the most rather than using our morality to make a judgment.
