A beaker is a laboratory glassware instrument, mainly used to mix ingredients, to heat and prepare solutions and sometimes to measure out large volumes. It is an instrument in a cylindrical shape, with a wide opening and a flat bottom. Beakers should not be used to accurately measure volumes since they have an only 10 percent accuracy. Their wide opening reduces their accuracy and precision.
