x + y = 27

y = x + 3

x + (x+ 3) = 27

2x + 3 = 27
2x + 3 (-3) = 27 (-3)
2x/2 = 24/2
x = 12

x + 3 = y
12 + 3 = y
y = 15

x = 12, y = 15
