Was Woodrow Wilson against imperialism or a supporter of imperialism?

On one hand, Wilson wanted to dismantle the imperial order by opening up colonial holdings to eventual self-rule but on the other hand, he practiced an old-fashioned form of imperialism by buying the Virgin Islands from Denmark.

So you can argue either way.

Late reply but he could be considered be considered either against imperialism or a supporter of imperialism at the same time.
