The 24th Amendment prohibited poll taxes.

Poll taxes were originally used as a way to discourage African Americans from voting in elections. Many African Americans were very poor, and they could not afford to vote. The Twenty-fourth Amendment put an end to poll taxes, which allowed more African Americans to vote.
