Daisetsu Teitaro Suzuki was a Japanese author of books and essays on Buddhism (Zen) that were instrumental in spreading interest in Zen and Far Eastern philosophy in general to the West. Suzuki spent many lengthy periods teaching at universities in the West, as well as devoting years to a professorship at a Japanese Buddhist school.
