The age of viability is the age of gestation of the fetus wherein, when born preterm, will live outside the uterus. As a rule, preterm neonates (less than 37 weeks age of gestation) has a high chance of not surviving after birth. This risk increases as age of gestation decreases. Usually, preterms born at less than 28 weeks of gestation has a very high chance of death.
