This would be known as Social Gospel. Social Gospel was a reform movement that occurred most prominently during the early 20th century in both the United States and Canada. It was used by the Protestants who believed they needed to apply Christian morals to the social problems of the time. The issues they pushed hardest for were poverty, crime, alcoholism, racial tension, economic inequality, dirty environment, slums, poor schools, child labor, and the danger of war.
