y = x - 6....so sub in x - 6 for y in the other equation
3x + 2y = 8
3x + 2(x - 6) = 8
3x + 2x - 12 = 8
3x + 2x = 8 + 12
5x = 20
x = 20/5
x = 4
y = x - 6
y = 4 - 6
y = -2
solution is (4,-2) <==
