In the novel, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Victor credits Professor Krempe for changing the focus of his studies. He blames Professor Waldman for what he calls his "utter and terrible destruction." Professor Waldman was his chemistry teacher, and Kempe was his teacher of natural philosophy.
