The test is called an electroencephalogram or an EEG. This test involves placing an electrode superficially on the patient's scalp to measure electrical activity in the brain. In some instances, electrodes can be surgically placed deeper on the patient's head. An EEG is most often requested in patients suffering from seizure disorders as well as chronic conditions such as chronic headache.
