If you divide 21 by 3 you would get 7. Put three groups of seven green marbles and put one blue marble in each.

Solution:

we are given that

Issac has 21 green marbles and 7 blue marbles.

He wants to place them in identical groups without any marbles left over.

we have been asked to find

The greatest number of groups Issac can make?

Since the groups should be identical. So the number of each kind of marble in each group should be same.

we have only 7 blue marbles. But we have 21 green marbles .

So its clear that in each group there will be only one blue marble. But how many green marbles?

So to find the that the number of green marble in each group, we will divide the number of green marbles by number of blue marbles and we get

(21)/(7)=3

It mean in each group there will be one blue marble and three green marble and we will have 7 such groups.
