The knights’ labor organized the excellent southwest strike. The strike began after a year when the nights had won against the Wabash. The strike resulted in the termination of knights of labor shop men since the union members did want to operate the train. However, soon the union solidarity led to Gould conference.

The strike resulted in sympathetic public opinion, which turned against the knights after the spread of violence. There was also an appointment of a committee that was to investigate how the strike had made little headway.
