a judge who shares a president's views when first appointed may change views when making decisions on the bench? why?

Well since judges must be elected in the same way that the president does it only makes sense that you should use the same opinions that worked before to try and get you into office.

Human mind changes and evolves through time, that means their opinions and points of view won't always be the same, and that doesn't mean they are incongruent or hypocritical, but humans.
