According to Chamberlain the colonies were extremely important to Great Britain as for one they would reinvigorate the old markets and create new ones. The colonies would also lead to increase in goods and demands for them. New jobs would also be created. All while allowing the Great Britain to retain its supremacy and take control over Africa.
