Supremacy clause is the clause in Article six of the united states constitution which declares that federal laws have the jurisdictional authority over the state laws whenever there is a conflict between the laws established by these two bodies. The supremacy clause is important for Federalism as according to the clause the US constitution is pre- eminent law of the land to which all people must comply. Without the supremacy clause, the federal government would not have been able to enforce equal justice to all people, especially in the cases when the state constitution allows for discrimination.
