In the phylogeny of birds, dinosaurs are intermediate between reptiles and birds. Dinosaurs are considered reptiles and modern birds are actually dinosaurs. Not all dinosaurs went on to evolve into birds, just a select few, these dinosaurs have similar vertebrate to birds, lay eggs like birds, and have similar feet.
