Ecological theory has been criticized for paying too little attention to biological foundations. Ecological systems theory developed by Uries Bronfenbrenner puts the relationship of an individual and community in center of its attention (identifying five environmental systems with which an individual interacts) neglecting biological foundations, which was often criticized.
