Why is it not appropriate to define performance only in terms of results, and not also behavior?

Performance should not be defined strictly in terms of results as behavior determines the values demonstrated in daily operations. Positive behavior such as a good attitude, respect for others, and the ability to be flexible has a positive influence on performance and task completion.
