Renting Boats on a lake costs $22 per hour plus a flat fee of $10 for insurance. If you paid $98 to rent the boat, how many hours did you rent the boat?

Answer:

Let x hte number of hours the canoe can be rented

the conditions of problems translate to

22x + 10 = 98

using the properties of equality the equation above is

equivalent to

22x+10-10=98 -10

22x=98

hence the number of hours the can canoe can be rented x is

4 hours

x=98/22

x=4
