Marriage in the Renaissance was much different than marriage nowadays, in most cases, the marriage was arranged and usually at a young. This was almost always so that the marriage would strengthen the family. During the Renaissance arranged marriages to maintain a family, a family was the source of protection and the great security to the dangerous urban world of Renaissance Italy.
