PLEASE HELP A.S.A.P.!

When talking about the surface area of a rectangular prism, would I say its surface area is 123 ft ^ 2, for example, or would I say that its surface area is 123 ft ^ 3? When do I use what?

The first one.
When talking about area it is always square regardless of whether it is a prism or not.
The cube one talks about volume, like how much water a 3D object can contain.
