In an average year, more people die from heat than from any other natural disaster. Many people do not have a sufficient way to deal with the heat. They may not have access to a cooling system or adequate water supply. Extreme heat is also more common than other natural disasters so it is more of a constant threat. With global warming beginning to take effect, heat will become an even bigger problem in the future.
