What is the most common cause of ophthalmia neonatorum in infants born to adolescent mothers?

Contamination of the eye of newborn with Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Chlamydia trachomatis is the primary cause of this disease. This is also known as Neonatal conjunctivitis. If the mother is infected with the pathogen the child will get infection when passing through the birth canal.
