Hi there!
Let x be the smaller number
Let y be the larger number
x+y=42
y=x+10
x+x+10=42
2x+10=42
2x=42-10
2x=32
x=32/2
x=16
y=x+10
y=16+10
y=26
Therefore x=16 and y=26
