From jost's results, what can you infer about the role of the gonads in controlling the development of mammalian genitalia?

Jost's experiment blocked the normal way the embryos would develop as he removed the parts in all the embryos in his experiment that would develop that is form the gonads. The experiment suggests that without the signal from the male gonads, whether the embryo is male or female, they would develop as male.
