Hydroelectric power produces electricity using falling water.

Water of river is kept stored using dams. This water contains potential energy due to its height. This water is then allowed to fall through a height on a turbine. the water loses potential energy and transfers kinetic energy to turbines making them to spin. as the turbines spin, electricity is produced in generator.
