If codons were read two bases at a time instead of three bases at a time, how many different possible amino acids could be specified? 16 64 128 32 8

This question actually belongs to biology section.

There are 4 codons, TCAG.
When read 3 at a time, there are 4^3=64 possible amino acids (see any codon table).

When read 2 at a time, there are 4^2=16 possible specifications.
