Voltaire believed that all organized religions are intolerant. He was an advocate for religious tolerance and freedom of thought. Voltaire believed that the intolerance of religions is a major cause of war, suffering and misery in the world. Voltaire was an atheist who believed that religion should truly be love for one and other and regarding all humans as equal.

Does voltaire believe that intolerance is a special trait of christianity or that it characterizes other organized religions as well?
