Why did France suffer the most as a result of World War 1

France suffered the most due to the fact that war is very expensive so they were in debt. Most of the war was fought on France's soil which also made civilians suffer.

France suffered the most during the fighting because all of the battles on the Western Front were in France aside from a small minority in Belgium.
