If a person walks 500 m to the north and then 500 m to the south. How much did you move?

In all they walked a total of 1000m but they walked from the starting point and back, so it can be either 1000m or 0m depending on what they're specifically asking you. But most likely it will be 0m especially if it is set up on a graph or if you have to make a graph.
