In 1889, Jane Addams founded the first settlement home in the United States which was Hull House. The Hull House was focused on providing educational opportunities to working class individuals in the neighborhood where it was situated in Chicago. The Hull House provided educational and social opportunities to working class individuals, especially women, to provide them with empowerment and the opportunity to change their lives.
