Salient

Salience or salient features refer to aspects of something or someone that are the most apparent or stand out the most. For instance salient can be used in a sentence as follows: "The most salient feature of Mary is her height. It is rare to see women who are over six feet tall".

When something stands out from a background, is seen as important, or draws attention to itself it is called salient. This simply means that it stands out conspicuously, it is very prominent, or it is of notable significance.
