Pennsylvania was a Quaker state that supported freedom of religion. Maryland supported freedom of religion for all Christians, both catholic and protestant. By far the greatest example of religious freedom would be Rhode Island, founded by Rodger Williams. Having been banished for being critical of the Puritan government, he guaranteed complete separation of church and state in Rhode Island, and allowed for complete freedom to practice any religion desired, creating a refuge for Christians, Muslims, and Jewish immigrants alike.
