Why was there a need for labor unions? What type of working conditions did workers experience?

Labor unions were created after people were fed up with their living and working conditions, such as 24 hour work schedules, a need for child labor, getting very serious injuries with no help, and much more. These people decided to do things like go on strike to show they meant business, and to show that they wanted better working conditions.
