The word Republic refers to a form of government in which a country is considered a public matter and is ruled by representatives of the citizens, meaning that the primary positions of power are not inherited like it happens in a monarchy. Nowadays, it mostly relates to the concept of democracy, which is the right of every citizen to choose their representatives through suffrage.
