The following does not describe a cause of the Spanish-American war in 1898:

(B) President Mckinley declared war to help his chances of winning reelection.

First reason was that USA declared war on Spain after the sinking of the battleship Maine on April 25,1898,in Havana harbour on Feb 15,1898.The war ended with the signing of a Treaty of Paris on December 10,1898.

Second reason which can be cited America wanted to support of the ongoing struggle by Cubans and Filipinos by Spanish Rule.

Third reason was Yellow Journalism which means journalism which has no evidence.
