re-write this sentence but better : Lina told her granny not to rip the cushions, but she did not listen. Lina had to respect her because she is old and you have to respect the elders.

Lina asked her grandma to stop ripping the cushions, but Lina's grandma would not listen. Lina couldn't say anything out of respect since her grandma was her elder(ly?).
