Why do plants go through photosynthesis? HELP ASAP!!!!

Photosynthesis: Plants utilize solar energy from the sun to generate chemical energy for the plant to use in the form of ATP. Combined with carbon dioxide from the environment, plants use the solar energy to produce glucose, the essential structural molecule of plants, enabling them to grow.
